Slashdotted by Saint Nicholas
Posted on December 7th, 2003 by

This is the first year my site survived the Saint Nicholas festivities. All records were scattered, with a peak 247.212 visitors per day on december 5th. I am extremely pleased with the performance of my provider: ipowerweb . The past years with HostRocket were really troublesome, as they unplugged my site at only +/- 90.000 visitors per day already.

GTK-Wimp 0.5.2 released
Posted on November 19th, 2003 by

Pressed toolbar steppers get drawn ETCHED_IN now. Menubars now have their shadow set to NONE, which is generally more consistent. Setup menu and toolbar icon sizes to Windows defaults. Non-standard color schemes, for example "Brick", are handled properly now. XP scrollbar grippers are no longer displayed when they do not fit on the scrollbar.

Workrave 1.4.1 released
Posted on November 4th, 2003 by

The most notable changes in this release are: added a new option "Block mode" ranging from no blocking (break windows can be freely dragged around) to full input and screen blocking, added multihead support for Windows, improved suspend (to ram) support, added "Shut down" and "Lock" buttons to the break windows. Furthermore, the stability on Windows improved considerably now that several longstanding issues have been resolved.

XP scrollbars now have grippers and should be indistinguishable from native scrollbars. Furthermore, menu items and menu separators are themed, as well as status bar resize grips. New for developers is the fact that GTK-Wimp now compiles with MinGW.

I am trying to streamline my blogging, and took some initial steps to achieve single source blogging. This renders my Advogato diary obsolete, but I never actually bothered to maintain that one anyway. My blog can be syndicated in the following ways:

What remains to be done is to aggregate the relevant bloggings on the GTK-Wimp and Workrave sites...

GTK-Wimp 0.4.3 released
Posted on September 21st, 2003 by

The Gaim buddy icons were still not drawn correctly, even with 0.4.2. This time, I tested the problem more thoroughly and now I really fixed the problem. So, 0.4.3 should be the best release so far. Hopefully, it gets included as default into the GTK Windows installer.

Another emergency update. Some changes in 0.4.1 had an unforeseen impact and were backed out. The trouble was that buddy icons disappeared in Gaim.

GTK-Wimp 0.4.1 released
Posted on September 15th, 2003 by

This is a minor update to iron out some bugs. Particularly, obscure console messages caused by the previous version have been fixed. It also includes a few new tweaks: tree expanders look a bit better in the non-XP case now, and the cursor blink time has been adjusted to follow the Windows setting.

GTK-Wimp 0.4.0 released
Posted on September 11th, 2003 by

Dom Lachowicz joined in and did most changes for 0.4.0. Most important changes: enable proper fonts/sizes for menus, status bars. Handle boxes/panes now do XP style REBAR theming. Toolbars should draw the REBAR part properly. Menubars and toolbars now are etched-in to mimic Windows' behavior. Furthermore, scrollbar sizes, radio/check button sizes, paned sizes tooltip color/font, font preferences including bold or italic are now all properly adhered to. Thanks, Dom!
